Former Member of Parliament for Nadowli West, Honorable Alban Kingsford Sumani Bagbin has been elected as Speaker of Ghana’s eight(8th) parliament.
Alban Bagbin contested against current Speaker, professor Aaron Mike Oquaye and he has won majority of votes. Alban Bagbin won the parliamentary election by 138 as against Oquaye’s 136 votes and one wasted vote.
The 8th parliament has been predicted by many to be a lame duck or an ineffective parliament due to the divided front of parliament between NPP and NDC. Both parties have 137 parliamentary candidate each with one independent candidate
