Western Togoland Silence After Election: Can They Be A Politically Motivated Group

Every patriotic Ghanaian who is concerned about the day to day activity of Ghana as a matter of fact have heard  of the rampant attacks by the  Homeland Study Group Foundation who wanted to establish a Western Togoland state in the Volta region of Ghana.

Prior to the December, 7 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary election, the country experienced numerous attacks by the troops who were believed to be members of the Western Togoland troops. They were able to terrorize the Volta region of Ghana by attacking lives and destroying public properties including the burning of STC state owned buses in the Volta region.

Even though some of the leaders where arrested, the question is why have they gone completely quite just after the 2020 election? The level of silence by the said group raise an alarm on whether the groups was a politically motivated groups who where tasked to cause mayhem during the elections.

Ghanaontheglobe.com cannot confirm whether the Western Togoland Secessionist is indeed a politically infuriated groups but their total silence without even organizing a press conference raise so many questions in the minds of many Ghanaians. We will definitely commend the security institutions for their efforts to maintain law and order in the Volta Region.

Western Togoland is a member of the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO). Four million people live in the region. In terms of language and culture, Western Togoland, especially the Volta region, has more in common with Togo. Locals in the region say they feel underrepresented by Ghanaian authorities.
