Felix Quaye-Larbi popularly known as King Maaga is a Ghanaian afrobeat reggae dancehall artist and songwriter. He is regarded as one of the fast-rising Afro dancehall artists in Africa.
Born and raised in Asamankese, King Maaga first began his musical career after senior high school, Asamankese in 2013 and got the chance to participate in the 2016 MTN hitmaker 5 show which he was crowned 2nd.
Felix Quaye-Larbi was born on May,19, 1994 in Asamankese, Eastern Region. He is the son of a Ghanaian father and Ghanaian mother. Quaye-Larbi developed the stage name “King Maaga” as a royal brand that was formerly his nickname. King Maaga has said he was a group member of the Asamankese SDA youth choir, since the age of 7. He went on to attend Asamankese Senior High School.
During his teenage years, King Maaga was employed at a barbering shop in Akwatia. He then began radio presenting at the age of 19. Upon being an assistant for his mum in her Restaurant, his God-father (Jefri king) recommended he join MTN hitmaker. When I started started music I went back to barbering.” He has explained that he became a barber in order to escape poverty and to push his music carrier, having been in an abusive relationship at the time after being kicked out his friends studio, and that barbering was his only way to earn enough money to escape his dire situation and get a better life.
