The monarch for Ashanti Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II who is the leader of Otumfuo Osei Tutu foundation have done a donation to students in Atwima Nwabiagya district.
The Foundation, yesterday, distributed 1,000 branded backpacks and 10,000 exercise books to deprived communities in Nwabiagya district.
The foundation which was launched in April 2009 by His Eminence, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has done so many benevolent gestures to the people of Ashanti region and Ghana as a whole.
Due to the widespread of the Covid-19 pandemic which has resulted in tens of thousands of cases and hundreds of death. The ‘King Solomon’ of Asanteman as most people call him, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has also seen the need to encourage Asanteman to wear nose mask to ensure reduction of Covid-19 cases.
The campaign is dubbed ‘Hyɛ Ma Me’ which is an akan word meaning ‘wear it for Me’. This campaign is under the Otumfuo Osei Tutu foundation and already campaign has started across Social Media and )pemso) radio station to sensitize people on the need to wear a mask.
The theme for the campaign is “spreading Covid-19 safety protocols to the public”. According to Ghanaontheglobe.com reportage the sensitization campaign has received many applauds across the Ashanti region.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was born on 6th May, 1950. His real name is Nana Barima Kwaku Duah the 16th Asantehene, enstooled on 26 April 1999. By name, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is in direct succession to the 17th-century founder of the Ashanti Empire, Otumfuo Osei Tutu I. He is also the Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is the Grand Patron of the Grand Lodge of Ghana and the Sword Bearer of the United Grand Lodge of England.
