The president of the republic of Ghana in a new directive has ordered for the closure of LGBTQI office in Ghana in collaboration with the National Coalition For Proper Human Sexual Rights And Family values.
The directive was issued on Monday, 22nd February, 2021 by the President of the republic of Ghana after the current government received wide public outburst over the opening of such office in Ghana.
The information was confirmed by Lawyer Moses Foh Amoaning, LGBT stands for lesbIanism, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender.
Days after LGBT office was opened in the country, the Catholic Bishops Conference called on President Akufo-Addo to shut down the recently opened office for LGBT people in Accra.
The Bishops are also urging the President not to fall for external pressure to accept the practice of homosexuality in the country.
A statement signed by its president Most Rev Philip Naameh said the group is however against physical attacks on LGBT people.
“We also call on the Government of Ghana to close down the LGBTQI office space that was recently opened in Accra,” the statement said.
Already most Ghanaians are angry over the opening of the LGBT office in the country with some threatening a possible protest.
