As president Akufo-Addo is expected to complete his eight years mandate as the president of the Republic of Ghana somewhere in 2024, therefore it is of a necessity for the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) to find a suitable candidate who can replace him and possibly win the presidency mandate again.
Already the two candidate whose name rings across the rank and file of the party delegate are Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and Trade Minister, Alan Kojo Kyeremanten as a result of their exceptional leadership qualities. Even though these two candidates have great affection and support from Prez. Akufo-Addo to the extend that they have all been given top positions in his government but he will surely have to choose one.
President Akufo-Addo is likely to endorse Bawumia over Alan considering the kind of trust he has in him, from the position of a Deputy Vice Governor for Bank of Ghana he was elevated him to the vice presidency candidate which became a big surprise especially to top NPP folks and Ghanaontheglobe.com opinion polls also proves same.
Basically with little political experience if Akufo-Addo can elevate Bawumia to a top position such as Vice Presidential candidate then it should tell you the kind of trust he has in him. Subsequently Akufo-Addo maintained him for five consecutive elections as his Vice Presidential candidate and that should echo the kind of confidence he has in the man.
Even though Akufo-Addo likes Akan Kyeremanten, he will definitely choose and endorse Bawumia to succeed him as President anyday.
