The Former Upper West Regional minister,Prof. Nsoh Avea has called for the immediate resignation of Muntaka Mohamed, the minority chief whip for the New Patriotic Party.
According to him, Muntaka Mohamed has disappointed Ghana and NDC for involving himself in a bribery scandal,He did not name the SC judge who was involved in the bribery scandal has failed to whip his team or party to vote out.non-performing ministers.
After the vetting of ministers, it came to the notice that some key stakeholders at the majority side were bribed to favor some ministers who could have been rejected for several reasons.
The National Democratic Congress had already rejected three ministers designate, for poor performance. They claim for the goodness of the country, those ministers don’t qualify for the ministerial position. After several meetings, parliament decided to have a secrete ballot voting to vote for ministers.
The minister formarion, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah had 58.65with the total valid vote of 155 which indicated that 110 ministers didn’t vote for him. The minister for fisheries and Aquaculture, Hawa Koomson Mavis also had 60.75% vote with the total valid vote of 161, which means 104 parliamentarians didn’t vote for her.
The food and Agricultural minister designate also had 53.96% vote.
Despite the result fro the vetting committee, the NDC believes strongly that the process was manipulated because Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and Hawa Koomson among other ministers did not qualify for their position.
