Afrobeat’s very own sensation, Wizkid has won a GRAMMY award for his collaborative work on Beyoncé’s ‘Brown Skin Girl.’
Beyoncé and Wizkid where declared winners for ‘Best Music Video’ at the 2021 edition of the GRAMMY awards which took place on Sunday, 14th March, 2021.
Already ‘Brown Skin Girl’ has recorded over 400 million streams across all streaming platforms and considered as the most popular tracks on Beyoncé’s ‘Lion King Album.’
Wizkid becomes the first Nigerian artiste to win a GRAMMY award.
“Brown Skin Girl” (stylized in uppercase) is a song by American singer Beyoncé, Guyanese singer Saint Jhn, and Nigerian singer Wizkid, featuring Blue Ivy Carter from the 2019 album The Lion King: The Gift. The song was sent to Top 40/Rhythmic radio on July 23, 2019 as the second single from the album.
The song was released to widespread critical acclaim and received numerous awards, including the Soul Train Music Award for The Ashford & Simpsons Songwriter’s Award and the BET HER Award.
