Speaker of parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has cautioned his former good friend Honorable Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu to be very careful as a matter of fact because he is the head of parliament and not him.
According to Ghanaontheglobe.com reporters at parliament yesterday there was a serious confrontation between the speaker of parliament, Alban Bagbin and the majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu after the latter told the speaker that he initially asked members to stand while making submission but it seems not everyone is following that. The house where discussing the collapse of UT bank.
Mr Bagbin had referred a petition by the former Chief Executive Officer of the UT Bank and the founder of uniBank Ghana Limited over the revocation of the licenses of the two banks by the Bank of Ghana in 2018 to a yet to be formed seven member Parliamentary committee to look into it and present a motion to the House for debate and the way forward.
The petition which was laid by the NDC Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mr Mahama Ayariga was challenged by Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.
The Speaker then overruled his assertion which resulted in a back and forth between the two.
The Speaker later told the majority leader that he is the leader of parliamentary majority caucus and government business in the house and not the leader of parliament.
He later told him that since he has been speaking across various media platforms against him he better change and desist from that or cease to be his friend again.
