The Minister for Finance, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, has proposed a loan agreement for $28 million to Parliament for the purchase of 275 vehicles for members of the 8th Parliament.
According to the papers presented to Parliament, the loan will be sourced from the National Investment Bank, NIB.
However, each MP is expected to receive over $100,000 for the purchase of a vehicle.
The Finance Committee of the House is expected to consider the loan agreement and report to the house.
The funds will be directed towards the procurement of vaccines and other activities to strengthen the country’s health system.
Meanwhile, Parliament on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, also approved $200 million additional funds from the World Bank for Ghana’s COVID-19 response programme.
