According to Defence Minister, Dominic Nitiwul there is a consultation going on for Ghana to acquire a new Presidential jet.
The Minister hinted on Tuesday, 14th December, 2021 to Parliament that after the consultation to purchase the Presidential jet is over they will move it to Parliament.
Honorable Dominic Nitiwul also told Parliament that the decision to rent a jet for Presidential trips is because of the inability of the state own presidential jet to carry large entourage during national assignments.

According to Ghanaontheglobe.com reports, the minister added that the larger capacity aircraft such as a DBKJ or an aircraft ATJ 319 will always be considered for international trips like France, Belgium, South African instead of the Falcon even if it’s air ready.
“The decision to travel particularly to long and multiple destinations such as the president travelling to France, Belgium, South African and back to Ghana especially during this covid time will always require a larger capacity aircraft such as a DBKJ or an aircraft ATJ 319 even when the Falcon is air ready,” he stated.
The minister also indicated that the Ghana Airforce is requesting for a multi-functional aircraft to be able to connect Ghana’s National Security to diplomacy.
“The Ghana Airforce of Ghana is once again requesting for a multi-functional aircraft to add to its inventory as a requisite command and control asset, to be able to connect Ghana’s National Security to diplomacy.” he added.
This back and forth comes after Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa raised so many objection as to why Ghana should rent a presidential jet which cost the tax payers money millions of dollars instead of the state owned jet.
