Argentina and Paris Saint Germain player, Lionel Messi has tested negative for Covid-19 after he initially tested positive after his trip to Argentina to celebrate the festive season with family.
Lionel Messi has left Rosario and is on his way to Paris through a private plane. His PCR came out negative according to Ghanaontheglobe.com sources.
The striker has scored six(6) goals in sixteen (16) appearance for PSG after leaving FC Barcelona August last year.
Mauricio Pochettino’s team are top of the Ligue 1 standings on 46 points after 19 matches, 13 points above second-placed Nice.
“This is the risk with which we live, on a global scale,” said Pochettino.
“In football, contact is inevitable, we share the dressing room. The risk of contamination is there, but we take all the necessary measures to try to prevent a player from infecting others.”
“Messi has been in regular contact with our medical team and when he has a negative test, he will travel to France, but we don’t know any more than that. I don’t know if he will be involved against Lyon.
Until he gets a negative test in Argentina, he will not be able to travel to France. So, it is all down to the test in terms of when he can travel … we will assess when he is ready to play.” he stated.
