It’s quite worrying and pathetic to realize that the key student leadership at University of Ghana thus the UGSRC and the JCR who have been given mandate by the same students have failed to speak and give hope to students in this trying times.
A simple counter-intuitive suggest that leadership is a service to the people and therefore it is an unsolicited mandate for elected leaders to represented it members especially in times of crisis to their full length.
Tuesday, 4th December, 2021 to Friday, 7th December, 2021 has been a difficult and chaotic mood swing for University of Ghana students after most level 100 and 200 failed to secure their various campus accomodation.
The struggle for residential accomodation on campus has become an herculean and impossible task for most students after thousands of students failed to secure the school’s residential accomodation.
The most shocking part of this accomodation brouhaha is that the UGSRC leadership who represent the school masses are yet to release an official statement to management concerning their dissatisfaction on the issue.
After thousands of student have lost their residential accomodation the UGSRC leadership are silent on the accomodation issue.
The leadership of UGSRC are suppose to act on behalf of the students and express the dissatisfaction of the thousands of students to management.
Surprisingly the JCR leadership are also quite on the accommodation issue, no official release to management has been made concerning the struggles of students in relation to the accommodation.
So were did all the residential accommodation go since most students didn’t get their various halls.
The UGSRC and JCR should have organized a possible demonstration or a press release addressing the accommodation issue if indeed they care.
Putting pressure on University of Ghana management will surely yield results.
There is a school of thought who believe that the UGSRC and JCR are silent on the accommodation issue because their rooms are sorted.
Only time will tell if indeed the UGSRC and JCR leadership are silent on the accommodation issue because their rooms are sorted.
