The Second Coming Of Nkrumah: ‘Africa’s Black Star’ Sarkodie organises the biggest Virtual Concert in Africa

People across the globe are faced with no other option than to think and act differently as a result of the surge of the novel Coronavirus pandemic. By and large the entertainment industry in many countries across the world are equally facing the challenge of making lifes normal for their fans. Due to the ban on large gathering in many countries most artistes have resulted to  virtual concerts as a means of keeping their fans entertained in this catastrophic era.

Many African artistes have either performed at a virtual concert or headlined one of their own but the levels in-terms of statistics, stage craft and others differs based on the pedigree of the artiste who is headlining the show. Ghanaian-born African rap Superstar, Sarkodie has just shocked the world with the biggest ever virtual concert in the history of African music. Michael Owusu Addo known with the stage name Sarkodie, on the late night of Sunday, August 16, 2020 penned his name in the history books of Africa by organizing the biggest virtual concert ever recorded in Africa.

 

 

Sarkodie recorded over 2,000,000 fans who trooped to CEEK just to watch his virtual concert when it was time to premier. Due to over excessive traffic from fans across the world the website temporarily shut down for some minutes. CEEK twitted on their website that, ” #SarkNation shut the web down. Due to overwhelming traffic we are having some technical issues. Please standby we are working to resolve this. 1.5 million at once with more coming.”

 

 

Out of the over 2 million fans who visited CEEK in order to catch a glimpse of the virtual concert, fans from Ghana were leading with over 1.3 million fans, United States followed with 175,535 and fans from United Kingdom, Spain, Germany followed with 47,865 , 38,419 , and 30,697 respectively. Sarkodie’s ‘BlackLove Virtual Concert’ is currently the biggest virtual concert ever recorded in the history of African music with over 2 million fans who where waiting to join and over 300,000 fans streaming the virtual concert in just an hour.

 

 

 

The concert will forever be historical as he opened the show with an excellent performance on the famous ‘Independence Arch’. Sarkodie was joined on stage by Shatta Wale, Amakye Dede, Joey B, Efya, Yaw Sarpong, Kidi and Sista Afia who all delivered a ‘mouth-watering performances.
